A day in the life: Jodie Haylock
2 December, 2020
Over the coming weeks we’ll get a snapshot from each memeber of our team, to explore their role, a typical day for them and their favourite parts about working at Solterbeck Events.
Meet:
Jodie Haylock
Group Account Director
A travel and event industry veteran of 16 years and counting, Jodie has been at the very foundation of so many of our most successful programs and events. In her time with Solterbeck Events, Jodie has delivered programs on every continent except Antarctica (and she’s working on ticking that box) and retains a passion for finding the right fit for each program’s needs. What is your role as a Group Account Director?
A Group Account Director works with multiple clients across various industries. I take a driving role in the strategic options for clients across their entire portfolio of events, working as an extension of their team rather than an external party. Over the years I have also taken an active role in training and mentoring the team. More recently I have been the lead on new business and designing event solutions for prospects.
What does a typical day look like for you?
No day is ever the same! Most often it is client program work but sometimes its new business proposals, sometimes it’s training and working with the team. The one guarantee is lots of talking via meetings and calls with clients, suppliers and the team!
Typically, what goes into becoming the Group Account Director?
Lots and lots of experience and a passion for what we do! I absolutely love my job and I believe that’s been a key factor to my success in the industry!
What is the most unusual/crazy/funny thing you’ve ever had to do in this role?
I have been fortunate enough to have travelled to some incredible destinations and had my fair share of “once in a lifetime” experiences. The best part of this role is the people! Working closely with clients who trust us to create amazing experiences, the attendees who we need to wow year after year, our suppliers all over the world and of course the entire team at SE.
PS – Once I retire, I plan to write a book with all the unusual and crazy stories I have collected over the years! Some names will be changed to protect identities!
